Repeal of Tourism Tax - Effective July 1, 2007

You may recall that one year ago, in 2006, a law passed repealing the tourism promotion tax that every tourism-related business in this state pays. The tax was 1/10 of 1% on gross receipts, and was a separate form filled out by you every month. On July 1, 2007, the tax went away. Simply put, you do not need to remit the Tourism Tax any longer.

This legislation will put over $5 million back in the pockets of those tourism-related businesses that paid the tax. In addition, the legislature earmarked a like amount to fund tourism, and put even more money into capital improvements for the Tourism Department.
