The Program & Certification
The HospitAbilities program is a skills-based assessment, supporting the future of Oklahoma’s hospitality industry, for students of all capabilities. We know that not all students display their gifts and talents the same way. For some, a paper test just isn’t a good fit. This certification allows students to test by doing! The hospitality industry in Oklahoma has worked together with educators across the state to identify 18 essential service skills. In order to pass the certification, a student will need to choose 7 that they can complete. There are a variety of choices from hand-washing or rolling silverware to dicing an onion or making a bed. 

After practice and study, the Oklahoma Restaurant Association and Oklahoma Hotel & Lodging Association bring industry evaluators to the classroom to score students and sign off on their skills. All students who are able to pass 7 skills will be issued a Hospitalities Certification. 

One of the definitions of hospitality is a friendly and generous welcome. We, as the Hospitality Industry in Oklahoma, welcome students with this certification into our workforce and want to encourage them on their journey to be hospitality superstars!

This annual event is the largest industry exposition in the state of Oklahoma, and the important event for foodservice and hospitality industry professionals. Learn about and experience the leading trends in food, technology, equipment, beverages and more. The ORA Expo also features the informative education and networking, as well as the annual ORA Culinary Cook-off and the ORA Cocktail Shakedown.

Tickets for Thirst for a Cause, an annual event raising funds to help with urgent medical expenses for members of Oklahoma's hospitality industry, are now available for purchase. Stay tuned- There will be an even better line-up than last year! This is THE best wine tasting event of the year! Nowhere else will you be able to meet this many vintners, taste this many great wines, and sample this much amazing food under one roof - right here in OKC!

The dates and featured chefs for Odyssey de Culinaire 2019 have been set! The first dinner will be Thursday, July 18 at The Bond in Tulsa, and the second dinner will be Thursday, July 25 at the Skirvin Hilton Hotel in Oklahoma City. We hope to see you at one or both of these unique dinners benefitting the Oklahoma ProStart® program!

The goal of ORA Academy is to offer continuing education and professional development to particular demographics of ORA’s membership, specifically Management/Front-of-the-House training and Culinary/Back-of-the-House education. With the exception of the April Academy, all Management sessions will be from 9-11 am and Culinary sessions will be from 1-3 pm, and each session will be $25.
