ServSafe FAQs
is this course mandatory or voluntary?

How many certified food protection managers does my business need?
CFPM requirements depend upon what county your establishment is located in. However, it is good practice to have at least one certified food protection manager per shift. Whenever the CFPM is not on premise, they must designate a Person In Charge (PIC) and train them in food safety rules – the PIC must have the same knowledge as the CFPM and be able to demonstrate that knowledge
Do I need to TAKE the course or can i just TAKE the exam?
A course is required for first time certifications but exceptions are made for those recertifying as long as your current certification is not more than 30 days expired. If a certificate is more than 30 days expired you will have to take the full course again.
i took the exam but i still have not RECEIVED my results or certification. where can i find that?
In order to get your results, you will need to go to servsafe.com and create an account using the same email you used on your answer sheet the day of the exam & your exam session number. Results are usually posted 5-7 business days after you’ve taken the exam. A certificate will not be available if you failed your exam. For further assistance please call the ORA office 405-942-8181.
want to register for a servsafe food manager review session and exam?
can i show up to class on a schedule date or do i have to pre-register?
Advance registration is required & we highly recommend that you register at least two weeks in advance so that we have plenty of time to ship out a textbook for you to begin studying.
what if i failed the exam?
Retesting is available at $75 – half day or $85 full day. Half day registrations can be made online under any of our upcoming class dates but if a full day retest is required please contact [email protected] to schedule a full day retest. You can take the exam twice within thirty days, if necessary. If a third attempt is required, you must wait sixty days from your last attempt. There are no more than 4 attempts in a 12-month period.
what if i cannot make to the class i registered for? can i reschedule?
Yes! First time reschedules are free of charge but there is a $20 fee that will apply for any additional reschedules dues to the demand of the course. Please contact [email protected] to get rescheduled.
i already have a book. Do i get a discount?
No. The price is bundled. You are required to have a textbook with an answer sheet the day of class.
what does online training entail?
ServSafe Manager online takes 6-8 hours to complete, but you may log in and out of it as many times as needed over a 90-day period. There are a few options – online training only (you would still need to take a proctored exam) or the online training bundle that includes the online course and remote proctored exam.
what type of staff is considered a food handler?
Any staff who handles or prepares food in any way counts as a food handler. This includes bartenders who cook a pizza or servers who plate salads, ladle soup into bowls or cut and plate desserts. If you have more than five food handlers on your entire staff (not just on a single shift), you must take an approved certification exam to renew your CFPM status in Wisconsin and the small operator renewal is not an option for you.
what if i have additional questions?
For information about the ServSafe Manager program, call the ORA office (405) 942-8181, Monday-Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
how DO i receive my certificate?
To receive a copy of your ServSafe Manager’s Certification, go to www.servsafe.com. Log in if you have an account or create an account (you must enter your first & last name and email address exactly as you recorded it on your exam answer sheet for your exam). You will need to know your Exam Session number, which is provided by the WRA the day of your review. Click on “Certificates” then “View/Print Certificates.”
