The Oklahoma Restaurant Association (ORA) prepares to welcome Senator James Leewright of Bristow, as their newly elected President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
The newly elected CEO was unanimously approved by the ORA Board of Directors at its March 29th Board of Directors Meeting in Tulsa. Leewright will not seek reelection following the end of the 2022 Oklahoma State Legislative Term.
Members of the Oklahoma Restaurant Association, Oklahoma Hotel & Lodging Association and Oklahoma Travel Industry Association came together on April 20, 2022, to host Oklahoma’s annual Hospitality Day at the Oklahoma State Capitol and “A Tasteful Affair” Legislative Reception at the Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
The day’s events give hospitality leaders a chance to discuss with legislators about key legislation supporting the industry, and the importance of supporting Oklahoma’s hospitality industry, reminding them of its position as a driving force in Oklahoma’s economy. Overall, the industry generates significant tax revenues, provides jobs for hundreds of thousands of Oklahomans, and gives time and money back to communities.
On April 14, the Oklahoma Restaurant Association (ORA) and Oklahoma Hotel and Lodging Association (OHLA) members volunteered to test over 80 students from six technology centers around the state to receive their HospitAbilities Oklahoma Hospitality Certification.
"HospitAbilities is a certification for students who may not thrive in a traditional classroom setting. We want to provide a skillset and a place to work for all students that have physical or intellectual disabilities,” said Roberta Helsley, ORA Manager of Education. “Regardless of what your gifts and talents are, there is a place for you in the hospitality industry.”
